Gordon Moore is a charter member of the Cancer Awareness and Research Network. He has a long career in public and private service, studded with accomplishments. Currently, he is a 29 year veteran of the Detroit Police Department, holding the rank of lieutenant. A graduate of Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan, and also a graduate of Pistis, in Southfield, Michigan. He is a staff minister at “Always in His Presence” Christian Ministries in Detroit, Michigan, along with being a Christian Evangelist. Some of his ministerial assignments included speaking engagements in; Michigan prisons, city and county jails, juvenile detention centers, halfway houses, and homeless shelters. Gordon also spent ten years as a family therapist for several social work agencies, including (but not limited to); Diversified Youth Services, and Lutheran Child and Family Services.
As part of his service to the Detroit Police Department he serves as the head of a peer counseling team which counsels and advises police officers who have participated in, or witnessed a horrific event. In addition to these activities Gordon is the director of player development for the Windsor Express (National Basketball League of Canada)professional basketball team, and he is a volunteer instructor at the ASH basketball camp
(a free program for inner city Detroit youth). Another position he holds is with the United Communities of America, in the “Thou Shall not Kill” movement, a group that targets reducing violent crime in Detroit through intervention, community involvement, and life
With CARN he is committed to improving the lives of cancer patients, and their families. He believes it is crucial to offer hope, disseminate strategies, and assist with any familial needs patients might have during their fight against this disease! He currently resides in the Detroit area with his wife Karen (also a CARN leadership team member).
